The University Community will recall that academic activities for 2016/2017 academic year commenced on Monday 10th October, 2016. In view of the foregoing, all continuing students are expected to have registered their courses after the appropriate fees for the academic year into the designated banks. For purpose of clarity, students that fail to register their courses for the semester will have score of zero i.e (F) in the courses for the semester and such students will be made to face Examination Malpractice Committee, as participation in examination in a course not registered for by the student amounts to examination malpractice. Jamb CBT have Helped Curb Examination Malpractices - CPAN

The President, Computer-Based test Centre proprietors Association of Nigeria (CPSN), Engineer sage Udibuami, has described the introduction of Computer-based test (CBT) by the Joint Admissions and matriculation Board (JAMB), as one giant stride, which has drastically reduced the spate of examination malpractices in the country. Udibuami, who stated this at the association's maiden press conference, held last weekend in Abuja, blamed the high rate of exam malpractices on gross moral decadence. He stated that the adoption of CBT as a strategy to eradicate all forms of malpractices in UTME exams has impacted positively on the nation's educational sector and beyond, he said the CPAN has no regret partnering with JAMB. He disclosed that they have successfully conducted the UTME exams for three years, he further explained that their decision to invest in CBT is to held close the gap of infrastructural deficit in various Centres national wide, following JAMB's outcry.

WAEC Releases 2016 GCE Results, 13488 Results Withheld - See Performance Statistics

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has released the results of the 2016 Nov/Dec West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) The results were announced by the Head of National Office, Nigeria, Mr Olu Adenipekun 16 December in Lagos. According to him, ''A total of 66,497 (Sixty six Thousand Four Hundred and Ninety Seven) candidates, representing 38.50%, obtained credits in five (5) subjcets and above, including English Language and Mathematics. WAEC To Conduct GCE Twice With Effect From 2017

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that the conduct of its examination for candidates would be twice in a year with effect from 2017. 150 More Private Universities To Be Approved In The Next 3 (Three) Years - NUC Boss

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Universities Commission, NUC, Prof Adamu Abubakar Rasheed, has disclosed that the commission will give approval for the establishment of 150 additional private universities in the next three years. According to him, those calling that establishment of universities should stop are ignorant as the current 152 universities are not enough for a population of over 150 million people. he explained that Argentina's population of about 44 mission has 1705 while several other developing countries with lesser population that Nigeria has over 200 universities. ''Presently, 243 applications are being processed for private universities, so in the next two to three years, we will have about 150 private universities,'' he said.

FG is Working Out A Frame Work To End HND/B.Sc Disparity- YABATECH Rector

The Rector of Yaba College of Technology (YABAYECH),Dr Margaret Ladipo has revealed that the Federal government is working to introduce a National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF) in order to end the HND. B.Sc Disparity She made this known during the pre-convocation briefing ahead of the institution's 20th convocation ceremony. According to her, the framework was still being formulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and would be adopted as soon as the paper work was completed. Extension Of JAMB Result Validity: What Are the possible Implications?

The senate last Thursday in Abuja directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to extend the validity of its results to a period of three years. The question is, if this is implemented what are the possible implications? One of the obvious implications is that candidates who scored up to the required UTME cut-off mark but were unable to secure admission in that academic year will still be able to use the result in the upcoming year thereby saving such candidates the stress of writing UTME again. it will also reduce the financial burden on parents/guardians as the senate president, Bukola Saraki rightly pointed out. However, the most critical is this, it will likely reduce the number of candidates applying for JAMB every year but at the same  increase the number of candidates seeking admission through UTME each year. This is not good considering that our tertiary institutions lack the capacity to accommodate the incresing number of admission seekers. Let&#
